It was used but in nearly mint condition when I paid about $100 for it a couple years ago. I've used it harshly since then, but it's still in very good condition.
I realized it was time to turn it into a tournament prize when I switched it on a couple days ago, only to find that all my data had been lost when the battery ran out of juice, after several months of not being charged. Though I still prefer some features of the Clié (the thumbwheel rocks), the truth is that it's been replaced in my daily life by the iPAQ Pocket PC that I now use. If I have time, I will reinstall PilotGOne go recording program; otherwise, I'm sure someone at the tournament can beam it to the winner.
Don't worry -- it is pretty miserly about power usage. Once the battery is fully charged, it will last for a surprisingly long time -- over a week of daily casual use, in my experience; or several weeks of inactivity. (But not several months.) In comparison, I have to charge my iPAQ every other day or so.
